Paver Cleaning & Sealing in Rocky Mount, VA
A whole backyard of sun-bleached pavers — pool deck, walkways, patios, and outdoor kitchen — brought back with two coats of Trident Hurricane Cat 5.
Seven Surfaces, One Faded Backyard
This Rocky Mount property has hardscape everywhere you look: a pool deck wrapping two sides of the water, a walkway running out to the pool gate, a curved path looping around a mature maple, a covered patio tucked under the rear deck, a fire pit sitting area, an outdoor kitchen under a pergola, plus the front entry patio and steps. Somebody spent real money putting all of that in — and years of Virginia sun had flattened every bit of it to the same washed-out gray. What made this one interesting is that the surfaces hadn’t faded the same way: the open pool deck takes full sun and chlorinated splash-out all summer, while the patio under the deck sits in shade and stays damp. Same pavers, two completely different kinds of tired. Sealer goes onto a dry surface or it doesn’t go on at all — and after a wash that thorough, “dry” isn’t one number across a property like this. We checked moisture area by area and started where the pavers were genuinely ready instead of working off the clock. The wash on this project was handled by our partners at Blackwater Power Washing; Pro-Shine applied the sealer.
The Results
Before:
- Chalky, bleached-out surface across the pool deck
- Warm browns and rusts faded to flat gray
- No protection from UV, splash-out, or staining
- Loose, unstabilized joints
After:
- Deep browns, rusts, and charcoals fully restored
- Wet-look gloss across all seven areas
- Joint sand locked down and stabilized
- Water beading on the surface instead of soaking in
How We Did It
Walkthrough & Protection
We walked all seven areas, noted problem spots, and masked off posts, columns, and coping edges before anything got wet. Landscaping beds protected throughout.
Deep Cleaning
Our partners at Blackwater Power Washing washed every square foot down to bare paver. This step decides the whole job — sealer locks in whatever is underneath it, so anything left behind stays there for years.
Full Dry-Down
Sealer only goes onto a dry surface. We checked moisture area by area rather than assuming the whole property dried at the same rate, and started where the pavers were genuinely ready.
Two Coats of Trident Hurricane Cat 5
A two-part urethane, wet-look joint stabilizing sealer. The first coat penetrates and locks the joint sand down. The second builds the finish that delivers the color depth and the shine.

What Sealing Actually Does for Pavers
- Restores the color UV has bleached out of the top of the stone
- Stabilizes joint sand so joints stop washing out
- Sheds water, dirt, and organic growth instead of absorbing them
- Makes routine cleaning far easier for years afterward
- Applied by a Trident Master Certified Applicator — sealer problems almost always trace back to application, not product
Frequently Asked Questions
Why apply two coats of paver sealer instead of one?
The first coat soaks into the paver and the joint sand and does the structural work. The second coat builds the finish that gives you the depth of color and the wet-look shine. One coat protects; two coats is what makes a faded patio look new again.
Are sealed pavers slippery around a pool?
Any wet surface is slicker than a dry one, and a gloss finish can add to that. It comes down to product choice and application, and there are traction options we can build into the job. On a pool deck we talk that through with the homeowner before we start rather than after.
What does a wet-look sealer actually change?
It restores color that UV has bleached out of the top of the paver, deepens the browns, rusts, and charcoals that were always in the stone, and leaves a gloss finish. It also stabilizes the joint sand and helps the surface shed water, dirt, and organic growth instead of soaking it up.
