My roof has moss, not just black streaks. Can that be cleaned?
Yes. Moss and lichen root into the shingle surface and need dwell time with the right solution rather than force. Pressure washing would take it off faster and take your shingle granules with it. Soft washing handles it without shortening the life of the roof.
We are on a well. Does that change anything?
It can. Mineral content in well water leaves spotting on glass and light surfaces if it dries on them, so we adjust how we rinse. It is not a problem, just something worth handling deliberately rather than discovering afterward.
